Video for the Weekend: “Whiskey River,” Willie Nelson
Well, it’s September and it’s football season and the weekend’s here. So let’s have Willie Nelson singing his signature “Whiskey River” with “Stay All Night,” from The Great Willie Nelson Commando Hoo-Ha and Texas Brain Fry – otherwise known as his 1974 Fourth of July Picnic in College Station, Texas. We were there!

Willie is a national treasure. And his window faces the south, too:

HE’S BEEN A TOP SELLER IN PITTSBURGH FOR OVER 40 YEARS. I HAVE 412 TITLES BY HIM IN MY ARCHIVE AND THE “MUSICMASTER” DATABASE. HE’S IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN IN MY COLLECTION AND IN MY HEART. I GOT
HOOKED ON “CRAZY” WRITTEN BY WILLIE IN 1961 AND RELEASED THAT YEAR BY PATSY CLINE, HE CUT A VERSION HIMSELF IN 1962. THERE WAS A TOTAL OF 88 VERSIONS BY DIFFERENT ARTISTS OVER THE YEARS. FEW
ARTISTS EVER REACHED THAT HIGH IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC. BLESS HIM……………PCM
