Ozzfest Update!

Posted in News with tags , , , , on May 28, 2008 by 30daysout

Tickets go on sale this weekend for the one-shot Ozzfest, to be Saturday, August 9, in Dallas’ sprawling Pizza Hut Park soccer stadium.  Headliners include Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Jonathan Davis (Korn) and In This Moment.  A couple of side stages will showcase other metal acts, including one band named Goatwhore.

Ozzfest tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, May 31 at any Ticketmaster outlet or through Ticketmaster online. Ticket prices are $129.50 and $79.50 plus service fees (damn, they were free last year). Gates for Ozzfest will open at 9 a.m.  Personally, I think it’s worth at least $79.50 to see a band named Goatwhore.

Parking and stadium information can be found at Pizza Hut Park online. For up-to-the-minute details, visit the Ozzfest website.

One-Day Ozzfest In Dallas

Posted in News with tags , , on May 14, 2008 by 30daysout

Ozzy Osbourne and wife Sharon (manager and Princess Of Darkness) have announced that this year’s Ozzfest will be only one show this summer.  The Ozzman will headline a spectacular bill that includes Metallica, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Serj Tankian, Sevendust and more.  The one-off Ozzfest will be August 9 in Dallas’ Pizza Hut Park – tickets go on sale May 31.  Check the official Ozzfest website for more details and ticket information.  Disappointed and angry fans in other parts of the country are working up petitions to make Ozzfest a tour, as it has been in the past.

Last year’s Ozzfest was free – and although it was crowded and hot (we saw the San Antonio stop) most of the bands were great and Ozzy put on a good show.  The highlight for me was the tender ballad “Here For You” (apparently inspired by Sharon’s battle with cancer) preceded, of course, by Ozzy mooning the audience.  Gotta love Ozzy!

UPDATE: The announcement for this Ozzfest has disappeared from all Ozzy websites … maybe the Osbourne camp is re-thinking everything.  Stay tuned.
